When Christ started His public ministry He did not try to affiliate with the religious leaders of Israel. The Bible authors did not state explicitly if He did seek them out for assistance in His ministry. We have one account of Him dealing with the religious leaders in Jerusalem when He was young, but other than that event it is very clear that He understood them very clearly. Also, from their constant maneuvers to discredit Him it can be concluded that Jesus avoiding working with them was the right decision. The religious leader had the Bible and did not heed its writings; they heard the preaching of John the Baptist and did not heed his teachings. Hence they were not going to listen to Christ. For this reason we understand the importance of religious liberty, freedom to worship God according to the dictate of a conscience informed by the Bible and lead by the Holy Spirit. So today we see the same setup in the Christian church as in Christ day and we believe the same outcome will be repeated.
Matthew4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
4:20 And they straightway left [their] nets, and followed him.
4:21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
4:22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
Are your religious leaders using a false interpretation of the Bible (or grace) to avoid doing right?
