To be God’s peculiar treasure

The Bible teaches that a person is what they think. Most people would not want to think of themselves as being peculiar, primarily because the word peculiar can mean strange, odd, and unusual. Yet the word peculiar can also mean belonging exclusively to, uncommon, and distinctive; it all depends on the context in which the word is used, the word peculiar can be a very positive thing. God calls His people to be peculiar. Moses uses the word peculiar with another word, treasure, which affects the way how it is viewed. Also, we find in our text for today, that the context in which Moses uses the word peculiar, gives the full meaning as to why God wants us to be peculiar. It is my prayer this year that you will think of yourself as God’s peculiar treasure.

Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine.
